Candace, with her husband Shahrokh’s support, has owned and operated Grow, their successful home-based childcare centre for the past three years. Throughout the life changing experience of owning a small business, as well as the birth of their son, Kamran, Candace and Shahrokh have worked hard to make their dreams a reality.

The primary caregiver at Grow Childcare is Candace, although she is assisted by qualified part time staff. Her husband’s role is that of an assistant in the last few hours of the day. Shahrokh is an energetic and charismatic child advocate. He brings to the program a love for sports, primarily soccer, and leads the physical education segment of Grow. Both Candace and Shahrokh have their Standard Childcare First Aid and CPR/AED Level C.

Candace’s experience with children dates back to her role as a “Home School Teacher’s Assistant” to her younger siblings during her family’s world travels on-board their sailing vessel.  After returning to home port in Vancouver BC, Candace continued developing her passion for Early Childhood Education through post-secondary education and received her E.C.E license to practice in 2007. Along with work experience in childcare facilities, Candace has also had the opportunity to work in a more intimate setting, nannying for a lovely family with two boys under the age of five. She maintained her position for two and
a half years before moving on to accomplish her goal of opening Grow Childcare. In preparation for starting her home- based business, Candace completed an extensive entrepreneurial business program and was presented in 2009 with the “Community and Environmental Award” from Vancity.

After becoming a mother herself, Candace’s desire for Early Childhood Educators to take a more active role in teaching children green living practices has only increased. She is excited to be continually taking her two passions, children and nature, to the next level by imparting a unique and desirable curriculum that practices and teaches children practical and sustainable life skills.
